Final Destination 
Alex has a neurotic daydream about flying, and is summarily kicked off the plane, which explodes shortly after takeoff.
Death, the concept - not a person, is mad at Alex and friends for escaping their fate -- and spends the length of the film chasing down the survivors -- a task it accomplishes with great ease as Death is , of course, formless and all powerful. Death is a concept, not a person, after all.
